French architectural firm Planet Studio represented its ingenious project – former paper mill converted into a modern loft.
The house with the area of 170 sq.m. is located in a small French city called Anduze in southern French department Gard.
Paper mill that stands on a plot with the area of 1300 sq.m. was in operation till the beginning of the 90s. After business cessation the premises of the mill remained deserted and were used as storage facilities. That’s why the owners decided to revive this place.
Traditional typology of Gard region is represented by Cevennes farmhouses. So, the owners decided to follow this style and at the same time create a truly modern house.
The result is stunning and is slightly different from the ordinary concept of a loft. The project’s authors tried to make connection between all parts of the house – both external and internal. This could be accomplished due to the element that became the center of the building.
It is connected with the garden, the patio, the rooms and the large living room with huge bay window. At the begging thie element was considered as an ordinary corridor but later it became more spacious and multy-functional.
There is a patio and a garden made in Mediterranean style. The water source was invented in the process of construction. It added the missing element for complete enjoyment of warm southern days.
