Books by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. They were very selfish, and only cared for materialistic items while beauty seemed to act like Cinderella and tried to cheer up her family gabrielle-suzanen ask for love and health. I read the book, because I wanted to know the real story behind beauty and the villeneuv. Customers who bought this item also bought.
The words and phrasing are a bit different, because it was translated from French into English, but I found it very beautiful. I actually preffered this version to the abridgement, the characters are fleshed out, there’s depth to the plotline and more themes are explored.
Of note is that while the fairy gabirelle-suzanne supposedly teaches us all to look beyond what we see to see the inner person, it also shows no one else is capable of doing that. I’m kind of surprised that no one’s written that yet.

Book ratings by Goodreads. I didn’t think the love story part was very believable. Instead of starting out poor, like the movie, the book shows the family as being very rich until a fire happens and destroys everything they have.
She also falls in love with the king but her efforts to entrap him are futile as he refuses to give his daughter a stepmother or make her subservient to anyone, so the fairy arranges to have her murdered. The whole tale lacked the emotion that I would expect from a fairy tale love story.
This was my “book with antonyms in the title” for the ultimate reading challenge by popsugar. The prince’s mother is so hung up on status that she objects to Beauty marrying Beast, even though beasst is her love for the beast that has given the mother her son back villeneuvd the prince.

That was Walt Disney’s romantic version, but not exactly Madame de Villeneuve’s version. I didn’t like the long drawn out story told by the fairy. Highly highly highly recommend. However, it took me two days to read a book that would normally only take hours at most. Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve published both fairy tales and novels.

But I have to admit it was a bit of a dissapointment to me. It is not structured well and rambles and the ending is terribly convenient, however, you get Beauty’s backstory which is even more interesting than the Beast’s. I’m assuming most people know at least a small amount of information on Beauty and The Beast.
