French designers continue surprising us with original design of two-room flats. This small Paris flat overwhelmed with the atmosphere of sea vacation and eternal holiday wasn’t an exception.
The flat is situated in the old mansion in the central part of Paris (France). The total area of it makes up 38 sq.m. The owners are a couple of two young people.
The author of the plan and design of this two-room flat is architect Josephine Gintzbourger. The owners wished the only thing – the interior of their small dwelling should remind them of Ibiza sea coast. That was the main criteria of color palette selection – turquoise, sea-green and white shades.
According to the designer, this flat is a perfect example of a two-room flat design based on contrasts and juicy colors that is a great choice when planing a small residential space.
The walls and flooring are painted crispy white that is a widespread trick in making two-rooms flats’ design. Many things remind of the sea – from furniture pieces to the elements of decor: a vintage designer’s sofa, a couple of chairs, a thick rug on the floor, furniture in the dining area and a large picture of German photographer Olaf Metzel.
The flat is divided into two zones – a living room joined with a kitchen, and a lounge area with an adjacent bathroom. There is no hall here – you get into the kitchen once you enter the flat. The rack for cloths is made right on the door.
Despite a small area, the entire design of the flat looks spacious. The kitchen and living room area has two floor-to-ceiling windows. At day the room is filled with natural light that adds additional volume to the space.
Illumination is well-conceived. The designer decided to avoid bright ceiling light and large chandeliers. All zones of the flat are illuminated individually. The living room is illuminated with the beautiful standard lamp with chromium-plate shade; the dining zone – with a couple of transparent lamps hanging from the ceiling; the kitchen – the dotted and LED lamps.
The turquoise crockery is a vintage piece – it is more than 50 years old. Light smooth lines of furniture and refined legs don’t overload the space and are greatly introduced into the interior.
The lounge zone is equipped with a fireplace and a double bed. There is a small niche in its headboard that is used to store things and a sliding glass door on the right of it that leads to the water-closet. The bedroom also doesn’t have upper light.
