While it is theoretically possible to synchronize one’s Vibratory Pattern with any given Vibratory plane and thus enter it, in practice it is much easier to enter this one than any other. I mean ideally, everything follows the plan, but as in most cases with long-term plans, it changes over time to cope with the circumstances.
So etherites and virtual adepts accept that there is no limit on the number of ways they can find to change the world around them. Any three Etherites discussing a topic of magic will come up with five or six different theories on the fly, all equally implausible. Technocrats that perform “Enlightened Procedures” are utilizing a kind of sufficiently-advanced technology. Ideally, the Technocratic vision of the world is a crystalline end-point, and everything else is just leading up to it.
Proponents say that it is like a mathematical convenience, only more so.

With sufficient insight into the interaction of vibratory energies on the Model, the Model can be subtly altered without outward signs of changes. While all Etherites are deeply passionate about Science and the fields they choose to study, Etherites come in as many varieties as mundane scientists do.
Some sub-societies are stable enough to bring in new blood and remain homogenous. The Convention took upon itself the new moniker “Sons of Ether,” and turned o the Traditions for succor. Destiny — Focus Scientists with intense focus can work miracles and never stray from their research. Research is currently being conducted in generating mirrored harmonics that may neutralize or actually reverse the energies emanation from Vibration 5. So say the Sons of Ether, and they practice what they preach.
Like their Technocratic foes, however, most Etherites bristle at the suggestion that the experiments they are performing involve magic.
Spaceships, for example, have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years thanks to magic. The original Technocrats decided Magic was one of the most dangerous forces in the universe, and enabled the other phenomenon to function. They believe that you can’t really control information, that people should be able to access it freely and do with it as they please.
Although many consider them deranged or just plain unstable, their devices and inventions sometimes work when other magic would fail, and their familiarity with technology gives them an edge in eher with the Technocracy. In addition to what others have said- tradition or convention who brought you in and ssons you imposed a paradigm that is hard for any character to see around. To balance their greater dependence vis-a-vis most of the Traditions there is a greater chance that magick will be perceived as coincidental when performed by an Etherite.
Given the fractious and chaotic nature of most Etherites, it’s not surprising that wscension Tradition follows suit. And they continued to dream, and kage build. The Tradition mages are more comfortable with non-rationalist paradigms, which tend to be, in general, more accepting and inclusive of mystery and the unexplained that the rationalists. Reality is simply a model to be altered.
With their incredible mastery of Matter, a few of these pioneers have made some theories about shielding their ships from the storm winds lashing the wall between dimensions, and their once-ridiculed craft may become a potent tue in exploration of the Umbra.
From the mad, inspirational science of Victorian wonder-workers’ to the fringes of cutting-edge alternative scientific theory, the Sons of Ether use it all. It does make the infighting make sense, though. The absolute most brief and general summary of their history is that they broke away from the Hermetics with support from other Traditions with the lofty ideal of putting a stop to unpredictable and dangerous supernatural phenomenon.
Progress must be controlled, measured, to ensure that everything will be alright. Mortal men and women azcension do today what would have been considered the most paradox-inducing impossibilities just a hundred years ago.
Keepers of the Wyck: The Celestial Chorus didn’t invent Christianity or Islam. The Technocrats would chalk this up to human science being “primitive” and needing to catch up to “Enlightened Science”, wait for the next theory to roll out and try again all the way up until science was “ready” for it with the Soviets and NASA. No, that’s totally useful –I had meant to ask about the Virtuals, but got mgae names confused. It is important to note that all mages – Technocracy, Tradition, Nephandus, or especially Marauder – have, by definition, bought their own line.
So I went and read it. The Technocracy has decided to tacitly assume there is an Objective Reality which sond behave according to laws the Technocrats discover. Mages are able to alter reality because they believe reality works in such a way that their actions will cause reactions in the universe.
The Technocracy is actively the opposite, directly denying the viability of anything outside of their paradigm.
