Our entire editorial office has already packed suitcases! We are fascinated by pictures of Iceland – the wonderful country of ice, chill and mosquitoes.
A trip to Iceland has been in landscape photographer Jakub Polomski’s wish list for a long time. In July 2015 the photographer finally made his dream come true. During two weeks in Iceland Jakub took thousands of incredible shots that immediately were spread over the Internet.
“If you like shooting great supernatural landscapes, you have to visit this country! But you must be prepared for the challenges that await you here,” – says the photographer at his website.
The weather in Iceland is unpredictable, sometimes even extreme. Most of the year it’s cold, penetrating wind is blowing; there are sandstorms and heavy rains.
But even such unpleasant conditions can be accepted but mosquitoes are awful. In Iceland, there is a period when the bloodsucking creatures become especially active. Iceland is also rich for the spots where the air is spoiled by terrible smell of sulfur.
Jacub says that despite these trifles, Iceland is a perfect place to make landscape photos. The ocean, mountains, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, volcanoes, hot springs, lava fields – all these natural wonders are concentrated in one area. Any other country on Earth can boast of such a landscape.
For those who have decided to make a vacation trip to Iceland, the photographer suggests not only follow the popular tourist destinations, but also listen to your intuition. Because you will not find information about many amazing places in Iceland in a handbook or a guide.
